Today,I am proud to announce formally the re-birth of Oge’s real-life-foundation to the public.
This milestone would not be possible without God who gave me this vision and also helped to water it and, to my mum Lolo, Mrs Nkechi Osuagwu who has consistently supported me to embody James 1:27 with her resilience and tenacity Which gave rise to Oge’s real-life foundation.
As an African girl child, I have witnessed firsthand a fiendish problem making rounds in our society towards widows and orphans. I was just about 19 years old when I lost my beloved father; in person of Barr. Ikenna Levi Osuagwu(late), Ejimnkeonye 1 na Mbieri, Ohamadike 1 na Orodo. It was a jaw-dropping moment for my family, which left an indelible experience in our minds. This irreplaceable loss left my mum extremely devastated and whacked. I have always known my mum to be stoic in nature. However, this particular incident took a turn on her.
Sequel to his demise, she was bullied, maltreated, jeered at, properties and shares taken away from her by some nefarious individuals all because she was vulnerable and wasn’t a belligerent person. She was traumatised and didn’t receive support to help her transition seamlessly through this journey we as her kids did our very best but could still acknowledge the gap and so it made me realise how difficult widows manage to transition. We all are still re-living the experience to date.
Oge’s real-life foundation aims at promoting different programs towards the betterment of the lives of widows and orphans through economic and social empowerments. More-so, we are committed to standing with widows in their journey towards self-discovery, healing ( even though the pain doesn’t entirely disappear), self-sufficiency and empowerment by striving to address those unique challenges they face by offering holistic programs tailored to their individual needs. Because people who are deprived of their fundamental human rights and opportunities often take to extremism.
We look forward to partnering with like-minded individuals committed to empowering these widows and orphans and, as they say “If you want to go far you go with people”.
